17 April 2012: New PS3 accessories are always a welcome. The new hardware unveiled by Sony recently helps to stream TV to Sony products like PS3, PS Vita, VAIO PCs and also to the Xperia mobiles. Both recorded and live TV can be streamed to these products from the little black box named ‘nasne’.

The nasne is a storage device with 500GB of storage space. It also works as a network recorder. It has the ability to record digital, terrestrial and satellite TV broadcasts, making it one of the more exciting PS3 accessories. The recorded broadcasts can then be played back on PS3 and Vita with the help of torne software application. The torne application will be available with the nasne making it easy to record and watch TV. The torne software has been in use since 2010 and now Sony has gone a step ahead and is using the software for digital video recording.

The maximum number of nasne that can be connected to the PS3 is four which will enable users to record four TV programmes simultaneously. Those PS3 users who already have torne on their PS3 will be able to record an additional fifth TV programme.

The recorded or live programmes can be watched on PS3 through LAN cable and on the PS Vita with the help of the Wi-Fi connection. This application will be made available for the PS Vita in 2012 sometime. The VAIO PCs will have nasne beta version and users will be able to view and record eight TV programmes. The recorded TV programmes can be copied to Blu-ray Disc and DVDs and transferred to the PC.

At present, nasne for PS3 and Vita is available only in Japan but will be available to other countries in July.
